I competed in the European Masters Track & Field Championships in Poznan, Poland in July 2006. I finished 6th in the M35 category of the 1500m, and ran a season's best of 2:01.34 in the semi-final of the 800m.
Imagine my excitement when I found out the warm-up area for the athletics was a speedway track...

...and the pits were being used as the call-up area.

These posters were at Lake Malta, the venue for the Masters Marathon. Having been knocked out of the 800m in the semi-final, I paid a visit to the lake on the day of the final as I'd heard there was a minigolf course there. Indeed there was, and I couldn't resist having a quick round.

On our final night in Poznan, along with many of the British athletes, I joined the Tartan Army at the home stadium of Lech Poznan to watch Scotland take on Spain in the European Under-19 Football Championship final.
